- CRISES RESPONSE
SERVICES
Persons with serious and long-term mental illness
may experience recurrent crises even when
comprehensive and continuous community support
services are available. As a result, the capacity to
provide crisis assistance is a critical aspect of a
Community Support System. Both Lehigh and
Northampton Counties have 24-hour-a-day,
seven-day-a-week telephone crisis services to
provide counseling support to relieve a crisis
situation. If a face-to-face contact is indicated,
both Counties have the capacity to visit people in
the community during some hours. These services can
be reached through the Crisis Intervention or
Emergency Service numbers listed here:

CRISES RESIDENCES
When telephone counseling or face-to-face support
are not sufficient to resolve the crisis, crisis
residential programs are available. Crisis
residences help people to reduce their need for
hospitalization by providing support and supervision
in a homelike atmosphere on a short-term basis. To
get into these programs, you can contact the Crisis
Intervention or Emergency Services Unit in your
County. You can get further information about these
services at the numbers listed here:

HOSPITALS
At times, hospitalization may be needed for you to
recover from your most severe crises. The community
inpatient psychiatric units in the Lehigh Valley are
